From 2001 to 2005 I was employed by the University of Derby as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer on the BSC Sound, Light & Live Event Technology programme. I am still an Associate Lecturer and do some freelance teaching at the university. While at the University, I was granted leave to light a number of projects; these included :

Freelance work has always run concurrently with any fixed employment Clients have included the: Manchester International Festival, Assembly Productions, Edinburgh; Liverpool City of Culture. I worked for a very long period,(19921999), for the education. department of the English Shakespeare Company/Young Shakespeare Company as Production Manager/Lighting designer. From 1994 until my employment by the University of Derby I was a completely freelance lighting technician/designer. Until that point, my fixed employment record is as below:

Interest and hobbies:

My principal hobbies are reading, sport and music. I play golf and recently retired from playing cricket. I climb at about VS 4a. I am a long-distance runner, having completed numerous half-marathons and the 2007 London Marathon. In 2012 I completed the London Marathon in a time of 3:59:23 . I play bass in my band the Elderly Brothers
